India’s second-largest online tutoring platform Vedantu Innovations Pvt. Ltd, which turned unicorn last year, on Thursday announced the rollout of an immersive live learning platform to differentiate itself from a clutch of edtech startups that have crowded the country’s 300 million K-12 (kindergarten to class 12) space. Vedantu further claimed that the technology leverages artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to measure over 100 parameters to drive student engagement, teaching effectiveness, and learning outcomes.

Live online learning platform Vedantu launched an immersive live platform -W.A.V.E 2.0 (Whiteboard Audio Video Environment) – to set new standards for online classes. The company said that the patented technology will redefine the learning experience and performance recognition at a whole new level. Vedantu launched its new online learning platform W.A.V.E 2.0 with features like AR effects and 3D models.

W.A.V.E 2.0 is said to have 67 live interactive features including AR filters, Drag and Drop feature, 3D models, a leaderboard for students, a multi-teacher model, and instant doubt solving by teacher assistants among other things.

Vamsi Krishna, CEO & Co-Founder, of Vedantu said:

For large group classes, the platform can accommodate more than 2,000 students, and, for webinars, more than 10,000 students can be accommodated. Vedantu said it has filed five patents for W.A.V.E and a patent has already been granted in the US.

Co-founded by Krishna, Anand Prakash, Saurabh Saxena, and Pulkit Jain in 2011, Vedantu claims to have around 36 million monthly users through its app and web. The company said in the last year alone, 280 million students visited Vedantu, and its YouTube channels witnessed 500 million views. Vedantu’s launch of W.A.V.E 2.0. comes at a time when edtech startups in India are launching various proprietary products to differentiate themselves amid rising competition in one of the world’s biggest education markets.
