After months of radio silence, Blizzard has finally opened up about the future of Overwatch 2, announcing a PvP beta coming later this April.  The beta will debut the new hero Sojourn, four maps, the new Push game mode, and much more

Development on Overwatch 2 was halted briefly, following the gender-based discrimination and sexual harassment cases against various employees at Activision Blizzard.

Overwatch 2 had suffered from a series of delays as well as a series of scandals involving Activision Blizzard, making the wait for the hero shooter longer than expected. The sequel to the original Overwatch will feature a fleshed-out story mode, more PvE elements, and a reworked 5v5 multiplayer. Earlier in February, some leaks stated that the Overwatch 2beta would release later in March. It seems those leaks were almost true, with the beta now confirmed to be late April.

New Changes coming to Overwatch 2

Blizzard Entertainment promises many new changes coming to Overwatch 2, including new hero looks and reworks. Players who get access to the beta will be able to play as the new hero, Sojourn, traverse four new maps, and try out some new hero reworks. On top of this, the beta will feature a new PvP game mode known as Push as well as a new ping system. The beta is set to give players a taste of all the brand new content coming to Overwatch 2, including the new dynamic weather system.

At the time, players will treat the new white-haired hero Sojourn, for whom. The beta will also introduce the new 5v5 game mode, which is something players have been asking for since 2019 after the GOATS meta began. The roles will now be limit to a 2-1-2 format – two damage, one tank, and two support characters.

Other additions include 4 new maps, starting with the ‘Circuit Royal,’ which is an Escort map, and ‘Midtown,’ a Hybrid map. Then there is the new Push mode, which essentially functions like an opposite tug-of-war, where the two teams push the objective to either side. For this, Blizzard is introducing two new maps called the ‘New Queen Street’ and ‘Colosseo.’

Another much-requested feature is the Ping system, which is ideal for those who do not have a mic or have speech-related issues, hindering in-game communication.
